AGTA Spectrum Awards:
CALL TO THE COLORS
The annual muster of colored stone jewelry known as the AGTA Spectrum Awards contest pulls in the best and the brightest gemstone pieces in North America. This year’s competition drew 352 entries which were judges in fine categories according to retail price: Division I, over $10,000; Division II, $5,001 to $10,000; Division III, $2,001 to $5,000; Division IV, $501 to $2,000; and Division V, under $500.
The pieces were judged on the basis of beauty, originality, wearability, quality of workmanship, salability, quality of gemstones and effective use of materials. The judges were Ginger Dick, a freelance writer specializing in gems and jewelry; jewelry designer Scott Keating of Scott Keating Designs; and retailer Tom Tivol of Tivol Jewels.
Here and on the following spread are the 18 winners for 1994.
